Okay, there is no more fake thing. The music icon is now for real showing what you are listening now. However, it is not like you just play music when you are browsing the forum. You need to install something too. What you need is AMIP and cURL. I am sorry that it may be complicated but actually, it is just a few steps. Get AMIP here [ link ] Get cURL here in our forum [ link ]Install AMIP. You should choose the one that fits into your own music player. Say, install the Winamp one if you use Winamp. Unzip cURL to a folder. It is not a temp folder, but permanent. Go to the Options panel of AMIP. If you are using Winamp, go to Preferences > Plugins > General Purposes > Advanced... line. For iTunes, turn the visualization on, choose AMIP and then click the Options button at the top right. There you can see a lot of configurations. All you need to do is to enable the IRC one (even though it has nothing to do with IRC) and go to the Callback/Web section. Type this to the Play and Start space: Remove the space behind your password AND behind the HTTP in the following codes Change the cURL folder path if it is different from yours. /exec: (C:\Program Files\cURL\curl.exe) -d "username=YOUR_USERNAME&password=YOUR_PASSWORD &title=&func_ue(%name)&action=save" http ://forum.aw8.net/playlist.php For the Stop part, you can type the same except that you have to remove the things after "title": /exec: (C:\Program Files\cURL\curl.exe) -d "username=YOUR_USERNAME&password=YOUR_PASSWORD &title=&action=save" http: //forum.aw8.net/playlist.php Then you're done ![]() *** for iTunes users . in the Options panel, just type the same codes above in the Preset box at the bottom of that box. Also, enable the IRC announcement option to make it work. Reply this thread for any problem. I will fix that asap. I will add a function to update the playlist asap too ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmaster*** Post edited by the author on 2006-06-22 14:09:51 *** ** Post edited on GMT 2008-01-04 01:46:53 ** OK-followed instructions Got the configurator I was talking about, but where is the Now Playing bit meant to show on Angel World? Should there be a music symbol next to my username? Yes, there will be an icon next to your name in the online list, when you are both online and listening to music. ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterSounds good Vin, thanks for the work you put in. I don't think I will install these things though. I don't tend to do that kind of thing unless I really need it or will use it a lot. ![]() "Both the FBI and the Hi-Tech Crime Unit of the Wiltshire Constabulary have been notified about the problem." [ link ] Wonderful! Really cool, good work ![]() ![]() Colors makes me happy ![]() lovely , night u done it x) . somehow, and i dunno why, i can't seem to install AMIP.... I downloaded the AMIP for iTunes though... When I wanna install it, it seems that it doesn't let me click on the "install" button... ![]() Fleeting dreams . . . Have you click the "Agree" checkbox? ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmasteramip have changed their site again i see, right leme work this out and see if it works ok ![]() ![]() :poof: I am a ghost hidden in my shadow that only the true light-hearted may see. That looks awesome, a cool feature! I tried out amip for a few days, i don't know if I set it up to the forum correctly... Although it just dosen't work for me. It will cause Foobar to crash when I play a file that has Japanese and maybe even Chinese characters. I tried though! ![]() Be more ![]() Noh, which version of Foobar are you using? Tried it with Foobar 0.9.2 and it works fine. The only downside at the moment is the text won't show properly. Incomplete CJK support also applies to Winamp. It should work with iTunes though. Not sure if it's AMIP or the players themselves... but if it works with iTunes, then it's probably the second. Edit: No support with iTunes. It's likely an AMIP limitation -- the latter doesn't yet support Unicode. Thanks for the great feature, Vincent! ![]() *** Post edited by the author on 2006-06-24 23:45:26 *** Noh, does it work for English songs? And everyone, check thoroughly the code you need to input. For most of the time mistypo is the culprit. ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterI may play with it again later, but I had to reinstall foobar to fix the problem. Not just uninstall amip, although it did start immedatly when amip was installed. so it has something to do with amip. ![]() Be more ![]() Do note me for any problem I however encourage everyone to use Winamp or iTunes. ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmasterhehehe, see if that happens. I fell in love with Foobars multiple playlist tabs, and small memory footprint. Plus everything that I transferd from my CD collection is either in FLAC and Vorbis. Last time I checked, I tunes dosen't support vorbis. The only things that itunes has over foobar, are podcasting and Dynamic Playlists. I dont care about podcasts a single bit, while a dynamic playlist isn't worth the loss of a third of my music libary. While for winamp, the big thing that got me to change was the constant reminder to update or upgrade to pro. Actualy a very nice all around, supports and does everything your heart ever desires is Video Lan Client. Supported on just about every OS known to man, unix(OSX), linux, solaris, bsd, and ofcorse winXP. It is like Itunes - the stupid store - the dumb ipod stuff + winamps cool plugins and usability + streaming MP3/ vorbis ability + Streaming video. ![]() Be more ![]() Winamp never annoys me with any go-pro feature :winamp: ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterTry useing it to convert things to mp3 and stuff. It isn't often at all, but it happened with me. ![]() Be more ![]() Oh, I never use it to convert songs to MP3s. WMP does a decent job already, while iTunes can always find the right CD info. With them I don't need others haha so I don't need to go pro. I only need cool Winamp skins. Since Winamp uses very little resources (3MB out of my 2700MB RAM), I use it instead of WMP or iTunes, which usually takes 40MB or more...![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterYeah, the one downside to iTunes is the relatively higher memory usage. Otherwise its UI is (imho) more intuitive than WMP, especially when it comes to mp3 conversion. ![]() ![]() But the new WMP is really cool in terms of the layout and album listing. I just tried yesterday on my laptop and it is quite easy to use, really. ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterWell, WMP does have a mobile device (Pocket PC) syncing feature which some people would enjoy, but since it operates at about the same speed as plain c/p in Windows Explorer, it's more versatile to just use the Explorer. The player itself also tends to respond slower (e.g. when simply clicking button menus) relative to other popular players. Then again, it probably isn't noticeable on more powerful machines to worth bothering about... ![]() ![]() Btw are you talking about WMP 10? I was takling about WMP 11 in my previous comment ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmaster![]() now that is sexy and if anyone is interested in going pro with winamp just ask i have a way of doing that ![]() ![]() :poof: I am a ghost hidden in my shadow that only the true light-hearted may see. What is that visualisation? Do you know? It looks cool. ![]() "Both the FBI and the Hi-Tech Crime Unit of the Wiltshire Constabulary have been notified about the problem." [ link ] Yeah, WMP10. What's new in 11? Still, Foobar is fast, has essentially all the features I need and is extendable. A nice skin alone isn't going to make me convert. Don't know if anyone has heard of Songbird. It's still at an early phase, is a bit weightier than Winamp and doesn't have quite as many features, but it does look promising and is also expandable. Wow, that looks like an iTunes! But I can't believe it is even lighter than Winamp. That does sound promising to me, but the mimicking of iTunes doesn't really appeal to me (perhaps I just don't like people copying things. Maybe I should help with a redesign of that interface, haha)![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterawTunes? ![]() One further note on this function, it will only work when you are online. When you are not, the song info will be saved still but not shown in any place. When you log in, your song info will be cleared, and therefore even when you are playing a song, you won't see the music note until you play another song to update the database. Thanks~![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterEhm...I can't get it to work. My code is as follows: For Start and Play: /exec: (C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\cURL\cURL\curl.exe) -d "username=Alex&password=MYPASSWORD &title=&func_ue(%name)&action=save" http: //forum.aw8.net/playlist.php (The space in the playlist.php link is intentional but I removed that in the configurator, likewise for the Stop code). The Stop: /exec: (C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\cURL\cURL\curl.exe) -d "username=Alex&password=MYPASSWORD &title=&action=save" [ link ] forum.aw8.net/playlist.php I don't know what i've done wrong, it looks OK to me and i've followed the instructions... ![]() You have no space behind the password, right? ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterNo, I don't see any spaces...should it all be one block, with no spaces then? I can't see what i've done wrong :S ![]() Yes, it should be one whole single line with no space at all. You see your second line for the STOP part? There is a space behind your password ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterHm...i'll take out all the spaces and see what happens I thought you meant only the one space that may have been behind the password itself, I didn't see one, heheh. Thankyou, i'll give it a go ! Yes, and it may not work for the first time until you skip a song or the song changes to another. You just check if there is data sending when the song skips (by seeing the green light at your system tray, if you have the icon there about Internet connection). ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterNo support for TTPlayer.. /cry ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Angelworld Forum Admin Switch then! ![]() ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterThis is my Config [ link ] All you need to do is to enable the IRC one (even though it has nothing to do with IRC) and go to the Callback/Web section MC, have you tried stopping then re-starting the song? When you first log onto the forum with a song already playing, it doesn't know to pick it up with the current config. Just stop then press play again, and then it should kick in after that. Edit: Pause/unpause also works. ![]() *** Post edited by the author on 2006-07-29 18:09:20 *** I've reloaded the forum, reloaded the winamp, reloaded songs, checked ID3, loged in and loged out, refreshing and even deleted the cache. I'm a disaster -- I'm thinking about a firewall or proxy - hard to believe is that ![]() yes, EDITED ![]() I tried with iTunes - the Win Xp frozes and crashes, turns off !! and winamp - I've re-instelled, re-config - it does not work to me ![]() *** Post edited by the author on 2006-07-29 23:09:44 *** McL, I have checked. There are only two entries in the song tracker database. I think it works with your iTunes but not your Winamp. I am demostrating the Winamp part here with some screenshots. First, make sure you have enabled it. ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmaster![]() Then, in the IRC integration, you must have it enabled to work. ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmaster![]() It should work. However, you can check this too. Enable the File/Email part, and make it write a TXT file. Trying playing a song now, and then find the TXT file and open it. It should write your song info. If so, check your commands again (as in this thread start) and it should work already in the forum. (as ikomi said, you have to play another song to see the song info in this forum because when you log in, your song info is cleared.) ![]() Vincent, Angelworld Webmaster![]() I see the song written in the TXT file. I change the song and the TXT is updated wih the new title. maybe the other members see this is working but does not me on my browser -- (using IE) voy a comprar una coca-cola ![]() This has nothing to do with your browser. Also check if your firewall blocks AMIP too. If it works in the TXT, I think it is the connection problem. Again, make sure that your password is correct (case-sensitive) and that there is no space in your command within the quotation marks ("). ![]() Vincent, Angelworld WebmasterYES! I got it working! Thanks Night! ![]() ![]() |

However, it is not like you just play music when you are browsing the forum. You need to install something too.
Get AMIP here [
Vincent, Angelworld Webmaster

I downloaded the AMIP for iTunes though... When I wanna install it, it seems that it doesn't let me click on the "install" button...
